I'm a purist and the idea of "shrinking" my DVD's doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I bought a DL Dvd burner Plextor 716A and I very happily back up my DVD-5's with it. Copying DVD-9's seem to be in a very sad state of affairs in my opinion. Why in the hell are DL DVD's so expensive! Is it some sort of pressure exuded by corporate Amerika or is it just that it is such a complicated process it can't be done cheaply? I've never seen any proof of this, anyone? (I searched the forums). So I ask you is the best way then to split DVD-9's onto two discs. What a pain in the ass, but if it means absolutely maintaining quality then I will do it. Is this a good idea in the long run. I'm thinking then when DL discs are at reasonable prices then I will make the switch.

if u want good quality use rb and CCE. its good quality but its slow, however it still uses compression. i think dual layer will go down in price in late 06. i try to just do main movie only and that way there isnt much compression. im sure there is ways to split the disc in alot of software. i think dvd xcopy platinum 4.0.3.8 has this option, but im not sure because i havent used it in awhile.

hi

dont quote me but i think DVDremakepro will split a dvd into 2???

but i never split i compress, with main movie i use avi2dvd which can use CCE encoder, but it has its own built in, avi2dvd (does dvd aswell as avi) is a free app and very good!

as gamename says which is good advice try dvdrebuilder / CCE combo for shrinking...

but as with all conversions time is a factor...

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Even DvdReMake (non Pro) will split the disk anyway you like. DvdReMake Pro can be used to merge them back again latter (if anyone needs it).
