Whilst copying a dvd, dvd shrink stopped and gave the error: failed to read file"D\" data error (cyclic redundancy check). This has happened a few times copying different dvds. Does any one know what the problem is and if there's a fix?

Welcome to the forum. That error is usually associated w/ a bad scratch or bad press. Try cleaning the disk real well and this time you might want to use DVDDecrypter or DVDFAB Decrypter to rip the movie to the HD. Then use Shrink. If you get the error again then the scratch or the bad press might be too bad to copy through and you will need to return it for another one.

The reason I suggested the above programs is that Shrink has not been updated in 2 years and can not decrypt any of the newer encryptions. DVDDecrypter just quit developement but It has other uses. DVDFAB Decrypter stepped up to the plate and they are now ripping the newer encryptions. Both of the programs above are free

Another one you can use is AnyDVD along w/ Shrink. It costs $39.00 and it is a driver driven decryption device
