ok i used iso buster to extract the files from the silent hill 4 iso file, and theres a dummy file(DUMMY.DAT). so i created a text file in notepad, put a space, and saved it as DUMMY.DAT. i copied it into the silent hill folder with the iso files in it, but it wont over write the original file... i renamed it to just DUMMY to see if that would work and it still wouldnt over write the original. so how do i do it?

Once you create the new DUMMY file it is safe to delete the original DUMMY.DAT file. That's what I always do and it works all the time.

one more question....... the dummy file is "DUMMY.DAT" like i said earlier, but it is only displayed as "DUMMY". when i create the fake dummy file it is shown as "DUMMY.DAT"...so its just a regular text file (dummy.dat.txt). so do i rename the fake file "dummy" or "dummy.dat"......is there a special way i gotta make the file into an actual dat file?

Hey, go to the tools menu in your explorer window (XP), then go to folder options. Click on the view tab then uncheck "hide extensions for known filetypes". Now the dummy file should be "Dummy.dat" and the other file will be "Dummy.dat.txt". Delete the the original dummy file and now rename the txt file to dummy.dat. It will ask you to confirm..... And now its fixed. Hope this was the problem
