Hi, I am not only new to this site, but new to trying to back up my dvd's as well and bought dvd-clonerII and am either not doing it right or not understanding the process. It is fairly straight forward, but after burning the movie, the video is great, but no audio. I used Maxell DVD+r for the media, but am concerned that the write speed of my dvd recorder may have been to fast for the disc. Does this sound plausable?

Any suggestions on how to correct this?

thanks in advance.

i used to use clonerll, stopped using it because doesn't produce a good picture quality. maxuel disc, not so good.
advise. dvd decrypter/shrink(both free)are great. you can find guides on how to use them here.
advice#2. forget cloner.
again, the following three programs are free and great search for them: decrypter, shrink and fabdecrypter.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Definitely try the free stuff and also check out the free trial of Nero. It's always nice to have a few different options when it comes to backing up original dvds.

Maxell plus format media is very good for both the 4x and 8x rated speed. Hitachi/ritek/and ricohjpn are their manufacturers. Some burners may not like them, usually a firmware update takes care of it.

If these maxell discs are 8x,some of the 16x speed DVD-RW drives will overburn them at 12x and 16x speeds so you have to be cautious if you leave the burn setting ticked at max speed! I keep mine set at 4x.If actually burned at 12x or 16x,then possibility of playback issues on stand alone players.

What's the brand name and model# of your DVD-RW drive?

How are you viewing that backup that has no audio? PC or stand alone player?

Hi, thanks for the replys so far, They are helping me to understand.

My DVD writer is a GSA 4163B and I have updated my firmware to vA105 so that should be current.

I will be checking out DVDshrink and decrypter soon.

I used the trial version of AnyDVD and CloneDVD yesterday and knocked the speed down to 4x and got great results on two separate writes.

Thanks for the info. Will be trying the free stuff this week.
