Has anyone tried or better yet figured out how to burn Lords of the Dogtown - Unleashed...

DVD Shrink won't scan it, DVDDecryter gets multiple read errors and DVDXCOPY Express freezes...and that is with using AnyDVD to remove Sony's Protection!

Any ideas?

Copy the entire DVD (VIDEO_TS) folder to your hard drive with AnyDVD running in the background. You may do this with the simple "Cut and Paste" method using Windows alone, or with DVD Decrypte; it makes no difference.

Once you have the Entire Folder on your Hard Drive, you may then use Shrink to compress the movie to a single layer disk format. Keep in mind that Dogtown is one of those disks where they have crammed the disk so full of "Extra Garbage" that it will not compress without some selective elimination of the included files. Suggest that you de-select all but the main 5.1 Surround Sound Track (in a full disk copy) and all but the main tracks of the doubled up sound tracks in the "Extra" material. That should put you within the range of a single sided disk.

Personally, I just did a Movie Only copy because the rest isn't really worth the effort required to make a clean "Compressed" backup. Or, you could do it twice. Once for the Main Movie and one for the entire disk. As always, it's YOUR DISK and your choice.

Two combos that I know work with this disc are:

AnyDVD and Clone DVD 2
DVDFab Decrypter and DVD Shrink

I used the DVDFab Decrypter and DVD Shrink combo and got it to work flawlessly.

Perhaps this guide I made will be of some assistance, as I backed that movie up with no problems at all using just DVDFab Decrypter and DVD Shrink (both freeware): http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=55629

decrypter with AnyDVD in the backgroung works beautifully with this movie.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

Ok I Have been using DVD Shrink for a while now and have never seen this problem before. I copied Lords of Dogtown using DVD Decrypter and then tried to back it up with DVD Shrink. The main movie was roughly 3800 mb and when I backed it up it shrunk it to 800 mb. I have never seen this happen and could use some help if anyone has ever encountered this problem, very strange.

Never had shrink do that to a Title which didn't require any compression, but the simple way to get around that is to Open the Compression Tab, after you slect the Title you want, and Select "No Compression" Shrink should then just do a straight copy of that Title to the destination folder or DVD disk; depending upon how you have it setup to burn a disk.

Stuck!

DVDFab copies the files fine, but Shrink gives me an error message about VTS_02_4.VOB -encountered a problem and cannot continue.

I have used DVDXCopy, Decrypter, and Shrink for years - I assume I didn't do something wrong. I need someone to get me past this error if they can.

Thx!

Others have said that DVDFab worked for them, but the ONLY program that I have found that will give me a perfectly clean copy of "Dogtown" is the latest version of AnyDVD. Dogtown has a new version of the Sony Structure Protection System, and AnyDVD has put out a fix specifically designed for it in their NEW version.

Download the FREE Trial Version of AnyDVD and give it a try.

What program did you use to move the VIDEO-TS folder (files) from the disk to your Hard Drive?

Best method, with Dogtown, of tranfering the files, is to just activate AnyDVD with ALL of the options Checked in the DVD Feature Removal, and the Drive Speed set to SLOW.

Then, just do a Copy/Paste on the entire VIDEO_TS folder and let Windows copy the file for you. Don't use any other copy program in the process. AnyDVD doesn't NEED any help from a copy program to do its job.. After that, try Shrink on the file again.

I used DVDFab and AnyDVD (latest versions) and Shrink and Nero Recode in all possible combinations. I get errors on the VOB file mentioned above or I get black screen for chapter one. If I skip to chapter two it plays fine from there.

It just seems strange that people say they've used these programs with complete success. I know what I'm doing and I know what to expect with these programs - but it just isn't working as advertised (for me anyway).

I am currently using the method mentioned above by SMSMike. Hopefully this will work.

I have been able to make a copy that plays on my PC, but it still gives me nothing but black on chapter one in all of my stand alone DVD players. Well actually it gives me black for a few minutes, then the movie starts. I know with decrypter, the updated versions would remove this dead space.

It surprises me that AnyDVD costs so much money and doesn't work as advertised. Decrypter was free and kept up to date by Lightning. It is already Monday following the DVD release date and AnyDVD is not updated. Guess I'm just frustrated.

Even if it does work for some people, it doesn't work for everyone. In my mind that means it isn't really fixed. I know some people have problems with perfectly valid software - but this is not the case with LOD's encryption.

Maybe people are saying it's working cause it is breaking the encryption and they can live with the black screen??

I was really hoping DVDFab might be a decent replacement for Decrypter.

Did you rip first with DVD Decrypter? If so, which mode did you rip in? Was it "File" mode? or Was it "ISO" mode?
