PS2 Stopped Recognizing Controller

I was playing my PS2 the other night with one of my friends. We had two DualShock controllers plugged in. After playing two games with no problems, I inserted another disk. All of a sudden, the machine would not recognize the controller in Controller Port 1. Furthermore, the controller in Port 2 seemed to take a command multiple times (meaning that if you hit an arrow once it would move in that direction continuously). Thinking it was the game, we called it quits.

I tried using the PS2 again today and ran in to the same problem. I changed the controllers with no luck and even blew in to the port to try to clean it out. The machine was never dropped or anything. The only thing I can think of is that some connection was loosened in transit (my folks brought the PS2 from home to my school in their car).

Any suggestions? The last thing I need to be spending money on is a new game system. I've had this one since it first came out.

Most likely it got bangrd aroun enough to cause the milar plug from the MB to the Controller port loosen up..If you open it up and check to see if the cable is firmly plugged in you might solve your problem..Open the console up all the way to the MB and plug the cable in aagin.then reassemble.plug up controller last..works better that way..that should do it..not very difficult prolem to solve..never heard of the MB goin out because of a controllor problem..
