I know that a slower burn speed is better (2x - 4x)....but I can not select a speed that slow. I can only choose 6x or 8x. How can I change this.
(I have a Lite-On SOHW-1763S DVD Burner)

What type of media are you using? I've noticed that some types of media don't support slow burn speeds in some burners. If this is the case for you, then choose the lowest burn speed you can, which in this case is 6x.

6x to 8x should be fine if you mean a 1673(litey) Scan all your burns for awhile and see what results you get. If good yippee if not call back.

I don't have a liteon so I wouldn't know about that, but, doesn't the program determine the speed to write? I know that Intervideo DVDCopy3 burns at maximum speed of the disk..... so if you have a 16x it will burn at 16x! That's why I use DVDFab Express (if the compression is of 85% quality or better). It asks you what speed to burn at..... and, again, it will have valuse of the what the disk can burn at! I alway burn at 4x! Just to be sure...... No coasters since I changed to the best media and low burning speeds..... that's over 450 disks and counting since May! If the caulity of FabExpress is below 85% then I will use DVDDecrypter & DVDRebuilder using CCE, then use CopyToDVD to burn to disk at 4X. The best! and if I have many DVDs I will batch the jobs out and let it run at night when I am sleeping and wake up to DVD folders ready to burn!
