i am a newbie to the subject and the site so this may seem like a really dumb question but here goes
do i need a mod chip to play backed up ps2 games on my PS2?,it's the new slim ps2 in case that matters if you can help and not be an @$$ about it please e-mail me at casdude8@yahoo.com

First off, read the forum rules, posting email adresses is not allowed..

To answer your question: You'll need a modchip or swapmagic with a fliptop or slidecard to play backups or import games, regardless of what type of ps2 you have.

ok i know what a modchip is but what is swapmagic with a fliptop and what is a slidecard
and as for the e-mail adress i have a bad habit of not paying attention to the rules and learning things the hard way so SORRY it won't happen again

if it's a new slim PS2 that already has a flip top you need either switches or slim tools and the Swap Magic Discs

What the Swap magic Discs do is they help boot backups
Switches and Slim Tools make the PS2 think the lid is shut at all times so it can boot the back up with the Swapmagic discs

or there is also USBEXTREME which you can use to backup games onto an external HD through the USB ports of your PS2
