You should only need to fix the laser if it is faulty. All the lasers I have seen are direct replacements for faulty units that have trouble reading disks. If you are having problems reading disks, is it all disks or just your backups. If it is just the latter, thenget some quality media and burn slowly before trying another laser.

webhedreg, ????????
Not fixing his laser, a laser fix
2 different things

Yes, if you put a chip in a slim PSTwo you should have
put in a laser fix to be safe. Many slim models have had laser
problems, more so if they had a chip which causes extra heat. and
can cause spikes in energy. Which is what the laser fix (diodes)
will stop.
For the cheap price they are, like $10, i would get one.
Summone or Comsoft V4 are 2 i know are good
I have had the summone in mine for about a year now
no problems at all with my slim with DMS4 Pro chip.
