He says this swap magic disk wont work with the silver slimline PS2 but it will work with the black slimline. Is this true and what are the differences? Also what version of swap magic shall I get then

Help much appreciated

if they mean the cream slim ps2 then there wrong. it does work but you have to actully open your ps2.

When in doubt, go straight to the source: http://swapmagic3.com/ It says it's compatible with ALL versions of PS2. Get the latest version of Swap Magic 3.6 with a flip top. You can pick em up bundled for $35-$40. Google it and see what kinda prices you can get. The silver v13 slimline does in fact work with the Swap Magic discs, from what I hear.

Alternately, you can get various plug/switches/tools, or do what I do, a simple mod with tape and tissue. Be advised, though, that any solution which involves opening the case will void your warranty, since I believe the warranty sticker for the v13 covers one of the screws on the bottom.

Thanks I have ordered the PS2 slimline tool as I dont want the flip tool I just wanted to confirm Swap Disk Version 3.6 will run on my system or did I need to get hold of an earlier version

3.6 should be fine as long as you don't try to run any cheats like Action Replays or Gamesharks (which I hear don't work with the SM 3.6 set). I wouldn't know where you could get an earlier version of the Swap Magics anyway, since most retailers only stock the 3.6 now.
