Hi all,

I've got AnyDVD and like it very much. However, I can not say the same for my DVD copy s/w. I'm torn b/w Roxio and Nero. I've used both in the past and now they have current versions.

Which do you use and why? I'd like to purchase the latest/current version and can't decide b/w the 2.

Thanks!!

well my opinion is nero all the time, but i dont know alot about roxios latest release, plus roxio and nero on the same computer can cause major headaches.if you are looking for a proggy. just to burn dvds first try dvd decrypter and dvd shrink both free.also clonedvd2 works very well with anydvd,so it depends what you want nero/roxio for, both are good all rounders but i would side with nero, hope this helps,as i say just my opinion.plus if you want anymore information do a search in the nero forum thanx.

I second mybarras's comments on Nero. I've used both and have found that Nero just has more going for it and is less buggy than Roxio. I'm sure that there are others who will disagree with me, but I have worked with both progs and like that DVDShrink uses Nero (ok, so I'm biased, go ahead, sue me :-) )

Cheers

i used to use roxio but Nero walks all over roxio...roxio used to give me some bad copies of my movies also...stick with Nero PAL in my opinion.

I prefer the oem versions of nero which are on both my pcs.I use it to auto-burn with dvd shrink so no extra step is involved.
I tried updating them, but ran into problems.Use nero cleantools to completely remove all remnants of nero. Then download nero again, but leave off the incd packet.

Here's the nerocleantool link:

http://ww2.nero.com/us/Nero_6_Clean_Tool.html

Roxio has a program called roxizapper. It also removes all remnants of roxio software from the pc.I'll have to find the link for that tool.
Edit: I finally found it thanks to one of scubapete's old threads:

There is also extra packets on both programs that usually give us problems. Nero has the INcd packet and Roxio has the Drag to disc packet. Both packets are not to be downloaded.

I just bought easy media 8 from Roxio and like it a lot. I know that I've had trouble with bad CDs and DVDs in the past, but it could be thatl there were problems wiht the disks. I burned some dvds using the new software and so far so good. The interface is very easy to navigaate. I have no complaints for now.
