I've backed up uddles of DVD's and have been using them same media, Shrink, Nero, Anydvd without problems.

Now for some reason my DVD-ROM is acting up. When I insert the backups (even older ones) Anydvd sees it and then it hangs the PC, doesn't let me eject or do anything. Playback in the burner is fine.

Originals are fine in DVD-ROM. I don't know of any firmware for the ROM it is one of the Pacific Digital's with blue LED's, and shows GENCDROM on the hardware ID.

The easy fix is to put in another burner to read with, but who wants to spend the extra cash and throw out a potentially good DVD-Rom?

Any help is appreciated!

I had a similar problem once. Mine affected both drives though.
Try turning off AnyDVD, and trying it again.
AnyDVD is a great program, but it can affect some dvds from time to time.
If this doesn't work, you may want to upgrade your firmware for the Rom drive.

Yea, tried that. I even uninstalled AnyDVD and it was still the same.

I can't find the firmware for it. A DVD burner is no sweat, but a DVD-ROM has me SOL.
