Really Slow Read Time

Hey folks. I have been burning dvds for years with much success. However, my dvd burner started to read really slow and choppy. It would go for a few seconds, pause, and then go for a few seconds thru the whole disc. So I figured this burner is just going bad so I go buy a new one. Got a new 16x plextor. This worked great for about 2 days and now the new one is doing the same thing. Any ideas? All help would be much appreciated.

My rig:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
1 GB 3200 RAM
6600GT Vid Card
200GB SATA HD

All my hardware should definately do this so whats up?

A couple of things:

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled DVD Shrink?

Have you done a firmware update?

You might have a virus/adware/malware in your PC (that's slowing down performance), run whatever security proggie/utilities you have.

Other than reading slowly, did you ever get any error messages from DVD Shrink?

Have you defragged lately?

A system restore?
