Make sure you do not have deep analysis checked when you hit your backup button, it is under quality enhancements.

@ Imac222:

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling DVD Shrink?

Would you get any error prompt(s)?

So, after the initial encoding (finished compressing), DVD Shrink would repeat the process all over again? Or DVD Shrink repeating the whole process over because it never did its job in the first place? I've never heard of this before. You might have some malware/virus/adware or something of the sort, maybe you should run some AV proggies. Registry cleaner?

How much RAM are you working with?

got 256 mb ram

run adaware daily

and what it does is

it will encode to 100 percent and then i figure DVD Decrypter will pop up, sometimes it doesnt and shrink starts encoding again at 0 %

i always keep decrypter up so thats not a worry

ive never tried to reinstall shrink i could try that

Technically, this should be sufficient, but I would suggest to get another stick (256 mb more) since encoding is very CPU intensive.

Also, are you using DVD Shrink to rip and DVD Decrypter to just burn?

Click on the link in my sig and follow the guide, you might of missed a step or two.

Post back with results.

@ Imac222:

Weird thing is, if you've had success in the past, why is DVD Shrink acting up now?

Do an uninstall and reinstall, if that doesn't work, then maybe getting more RAM is your answer.

Not to pry, but how old is your PC?

i take that back its 2 sticks of 128 my bad
i built my cpu say 2-3 years ago

got my burner a month ago and at first id say the ratio was 1 per every 10 burns it would double encode

now id say 50/50

a friend of mine had same suggestion bout the checkbox under enhacements

another strange thing is my dvd rom drive and dvd burner wont play the audio from a burned dvd or an original dvd

speakers are on
music is up
and music and video files play fine on my cpu

but on the dvd the sound is good when put into my ps2 so it does burn correctly

Does it still double encode when those are grayed out?

Usually when the slow adaptive error compensation and backup in low priority mode in the quality enhancements tab are grayed out,the backup will have no compression. If you re-author,they will be grayed out quite often.

If they are lit up and checked-they are being compressed. That will act like a double encoding.Actually you are slowly analyzing. After that slow analyzing, then you'll have the slower encoding and then the burn.

nah it says encoding 2 times at the top of the screen

yes i reauthor and it analyzes in like 30 seconds depending on dvd

then normally an encode takes ruffly 20-25 minutes
and sometimes it just encodes again for same time period

and since day 1 i think that has been greyed out
