DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Invalid data in file "C:\DVDVIDEO\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_5.VOB"
Overlapped I/O operation is in progress.

Does anyone know what this means? I have DVD Decrypter and it works fine. I then drag the files to DVD Shrink and immediately i get this pop up everytime with every DVD I decrypt and send to Shrink.

Thanks

Don't drag and drop. Let Shrink open the file first and then you can Shrink it to size.

So, I'm assuming you're using DVD Shrink in conjuction with DVD Decrypter. Is this your first time to backup a movie? If so, click on the link in my sig and follow the guide. You should do fine.

If it is not you're first time burning and you've had success in the past, what have you done differently with this most recent burn?

@ djregulus:

Uninstall both proggies and start from the beginning.

Just out of curiousity, what title are you trying to backup?

Forgot to add, delete the old files you made previously and use the ones after the reinstallation.

Post back with results.

@djregulus,
I know what your problem is. You need to un-check something in shrink. Go to edit>preferences>File I/O> now uncheck the box labeled "Enable overlapped I/O -this may increase ripping performance". The #%$@ing setting got me too. Uncheck this, and you will not get that problem.. Just try it.. No need to un-install. Tell me if it works. I have a link to a post where that problem got me too.

djregulus,
Ok, we got rid of the overlapped I/O thing. Plus the overlapped I/O may have corrupted the file you were working with. Now it is giving you another error. The invalid file name/data sounds like you could be hitting some encryption, DVDDecrypter and DVDShrink, while both excellent programs, and still useful, do not handle the newest encryptions. There is a free program that works like DVDDecrypter, but does less: DVDFabDecrypter. It is updated to handle the latest tricks. I use AnyDVD, but that one is not free. It is great, and worth the money imho. Going the FabD route you would have FabD extract the files to your HD. Once it is finsihed, open and process normally with Shrink, using the open file button. Sometimes we need to extract the movie to HD first, then open with shrink. If you have DVDDecrypter, have you tryed using just it to burn your disc assuming the original disc is 4.7gb or less? If encryption is the problem, this wont help, you would have to go the FabD route. Using DVDDecrypter either mode ISO read/Write, or Mode File and extract to HD then open with shrink. Gotta run, but i will check back later.

You could also use DVD43, also free, but works behind the scenes. You could simply "Shrink" it directly from the original disc, then burn with ur burning app. Try previous suggestion 1st, if nogo, then try this one.
