Swap magic w/ god of war?

I was just wondering if I need to use swap magic to play God of War once I have completed all the steps laid out by sonix, or if the game will just play with a mod chip, because I finished all the steps and burned the dvd. the PS2 registers the disc as being a PS2 disc but wont load it. It just flickers a bit and then goes to the memory card/ disc screen.

you have to rebuild god of war to dvd5 and burn it on a regular dvd.
