I've been fighting with my computer manufacturer for 3 days, I've installed a new DVD RRW drive and reinstalled Windows and my computer still won't write to my DVD Drive. I've tried Sonic, Windows Media Player, Muvee AutoProducer 4.0, and DVD Wizard Pro. Wizard is the only one that even recognizes the drive. Sonic says "no drive detected" and the other 2 treat it like a CD. When I tried with Wizard, the burning process would interrupt with an "error writing sector 1456."
I have a presentation due Thursday morning and I REALLY need to burn a DVD of clips to go with it. Any suggesstions out there, PLEASE??
I am running Windows XP on an HP Pavilion 3.0 GHz and 500MB RAM (only a month old). The drive I just installed (for naught apparently) is an HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4166B.
ANY suggestions appreciated!!!!!!!

Well, yesterday the device manager saw the drive correctly but in my computer it was just listed as CD-ROM. Today, it is a DVD-RW in my computer (after I resintalled windows). What is Nero Utilities? I just downloaded Nero 6.0, but I can't find anything called utilities.

Well, yes and no. My original drive was Hewlitt-Packard and I've talked to them ad nauseum; I have no idea who makes the new drive they sent me.
Nero seems to be working now, but I need to combine clips from several different DVDs - any ideas?

wow your cutting it close---first you could get a capture card to capture the images while atching them---then you need to convert them
(thats a whole nother ballgame)
or you can decrypt the clips using dvddecrypter or dvdshrink
then u still have to use DVD2AVI--------
basicly you need a crash course in dvd editing and dvd back ups
search these forums with the key words ive listed and learn and try as much as you can-------your in school so get busy

if you have them on your hard drive then you could use Nero to combine them like a dvd movie or Nero photo will make a slide show. That is the quickest way I can think of
