Hello, I am brand new at all this. I have learned a lot from reading the posts. All I am interested in doing is making some copies of my DVD's. I bought an HP burner. I was using Sonic Now to make "exact copy." This worked for some DVD's. However, when I put in some it would eject and say put in a DVD-9. I had no idea what that was.
Since then I have learned that the file is too big to fit on a regular DVD. I downloaded DVD-Shrink, and went through that process. I have the movie saved in my C:Drive.
I need help with where to go from here. Is there anyway to use Sonic to make the DVD? Or does it have to be a program like Nero?
Also, do you have to buy Nero. I downloaded it, and it asks if I want to buy a serial number. I just want to make sure this isn't a rip off. What should I expect to pay?
You should be able to use Sonic to burn as long as it is an iso file. Look in My Computer and see if the iso has been associated with Sonic, i.e. the icon next to the file is Sonics, if so just click on it. Otherwise just open Sonic and the find your file and burn. As for Nero you should be able to use the Demo version without having to pay, the program is 80.00. I have owned Nero in many ver. for about 8 years and find the program very versatile. It has a program in it called Nero Recode which does the same thing as Shrink, but is much faster it is made by the same developer. However, Nero does not break encryption you would still need another program to do that, such as DVD Decrypter, DVD FabDecrypter, DVD43 or AnyDVD.
Just to add to what arniebear said you can also get nero 6 oem suite 3 which includes nero express and recode 2 for about $8.00. Nero 6 oem suites 1 & 2 don't include recode 2. Here's an example http://www.softwareandstuff.com/SWW12252.html
There are some guides for dvd decrypter and dvd shrink in my sig.
