Hello. I am new to the forum.
I have a Pioneer DVR-105 DVD Writer. When i try to burn a CD, it burns it all way to the end (%100) but at the end it gives an error and fails. I reinstalled nero, tried different programs such as deep burner, changed the ide cables, unplugged my other cd drives. but nothing helped. i even updated the firmware.
I have nero 6.6.0.16 installed in my system. My firmware (v1.33 i guess) is up to date. i close all other applications. But it always fails. I wasted at least 10 cd's since last night. Please help me.
Here are my spesisications:
Amd Athlon XP 2000
Msi KT4AV Mainboard
512 Mb Twinmos Memory
80 GB Samsung HDD
And here is the errors log file that nero created:

Your firmware is up to date.
The biggest problem I see is
Quote: Princo Corporation
Eck!! Horrible discs - Change your cd's to Maxell, Fuji or Sony - look for made in Japan.
Quote: SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND
direct correlation to those princo cd's
Quote: Last possible write address on media: 359848 ( 79:59.73)
Last address to be written: 359040 ( 79:49.15)
Your also writing right to the end of the cd - cut it back some.

I this time tried to burn a dvd. I used DMC brand which is a high class one in my country.I remembered what you said about writing near to the edge of the disk. so i filled 3/4 of the it this once. But i got "Internal target failure" error just at the beginning of burn. And here is the log file generated:

Edit you post to remove your serial # - we don't want someone to get that!
The discs you are using are manufactured by AN31 and get mixed reviews on videohelp.
The last log you did a cd and received a failure - this time you are using a dvd and receiving a diffferent failure reason - internal target which can be the discs used. You also get a Quote: (KEY_HARDWARE_ERROR
and the driver is no longer recognized for you drive Quote: File 'Drivers\atapi.sys': Ver=?.?.?.?,
as it was when using a cd. This one has me puzzled so let me try and get the aD Nero expert to help out on this. Stay tuned.

hi and welcome. Binkie7 asked me to have a look at your log..
Quote: Recorder: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-105, Media type: DVD-R
Disc Manufacturer: AN31 -
Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193
- hmmm, i think binkie7 was being kind re those discs!, a quote from here - http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm - Quote: 4TH CLASS MEDIA
Pathetic garbage media, landfill material, about 0-50% success rate: AN31, AN32, ANWELL, AN30, AML = Hong Kong OEM (Infosmart) = (-R)
Quote: File 'Drivers\atapi.sys': Ver=?.?.?.?, size=95360 bytes, created 03.08.2004 22:59:44 (Adapter driver for rec)
- i wouldn't be surprised if those atrocious quality discs are what's making your drivers bounce around. Fix via thus - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm
In over 2000 burns and almost the same amount of rips i have yet to have my DMA settings bounced even once. Media i recommend are in my signature however let us know what other discs your country has (what country you in?) and we'll help point you towards decent discs.
Quote: Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
Last address to be written: 1714687 (381:02.37, 3348MB)
- ps 3348MB is great, in case you didn't know, and if you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences to ensure no movies go above 4300MB, thus avoiding outer edge of discs and not sacrificing much space..
