Since you have a Lite-on use the booktype utility for this drive. Here is the site and a guide for the utility.

ALL liteon's have the ability to booktype~ , use the 2 links arniebear provided as you will be on your way, while the Nero route will work too, it's MUCH easier to use a program that LITEON fully supports from their website to booktype your DVD+R media~ :) good luck~

@thegood16,

I have not heard of the Emprex dvd burner and I'm not so sure if your burner is capable of changing the book type. According to my knowledge you can't book type or change the bitsetting from any DVD-R to DVD-ROM. As for as I know, only DVD+R/+R DL can book type (or change the bitsetting) into a DVD-ROM format. Yes.... DVD-ROM is the universal format for all commercial [original pressed] DVDs and PS2 games. Again, DVD-ROM will work with all functional dvd players, even with 2 or 3 years old models.

Go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/239851 and scroll down to the steps I stated. Use either Nero or DVD Decrypter to book type your future burning.

NOTE: keep in mind though that your dvd burner is capable of book typing in order to successfully change to DVD-ROM.

Can someone explain to me why someone would change the booktyping from +R to dvd-rom?

@dvd_craze - it's to make a +R disc appear (to standalone players) to be a dvd-rom disc, ie fools the players into thinking it's just a 'pressed' disc such as you buy in the shops etc.

I use mainly use -R media mainly (no real reason), however i only buy burners that support booktyping (otherwise known as bitsetting) so that when i do burn +R discs i'm in theory making 'em more compatible on standalones

If you use DVD dash media (-) you have no reason to booktype as your riscs will be compatible with most standalone DVD players.
