first of all i want to say im a complete noobie. ok. now for the questions......
i hav got alcohol 120%, ridisc dvd-r discs and swap magic 2.0. What do i need to do to make a backup ps2 game from the original disc?

I haven't used alcohol in a long time but, just look for the option that lets you copy a disc, that's all you need.

Hi if u go 2 image making wizard (Alcohol 120%), set the drive 2 copy from (Alcohol 120% should set it up by default).Click next. Select where u want the file 2 be stored on the HD(remember where u stored it), click next. Now the file will b copied 2 ur HD. After this is finished stick a blank in ur burner, go 2 image burning, select the file that u just burned to HD. Also down the bottom of the image burning screen it has a pulldown menu (data type) select Playstation 2. Click next & wait 20mins or so. The game is ready 2 b played in PS2 with a chip or SwapMagic.

i also suggest updating to a newer Swap Magic
2.0 is way outdated and you may have problems loading
some of your games. Sometimes you have to use
a helper program with 2.0 like DVD Loader
and a lot more games will have to be rebuilt than if you were
using a newer version

Agreeing with Steimy, SM 2.0 had a lot of games that needed to be rebuilt or loaded with cogswap loader or CD loader. SM 3.6 should produce a lot fewer headaches.
