dont really know alot about which r the best burners but u will need some good dvd-rs if u wanna burn ps2 games im using verbatims and havent had 1 single problem yet with any games also u need a good program DVD Decrypter is the easiest and quickest about and always gets results and if u want to burn fast well this is out of the question cos burning ps2 games is different to burning a cd u have to burn at lower speeds like 2x and 4x so getting a high speed dvd burner wont really make a difference also stick with lower speed discs aswell cos there cheaper and thats all your goin to be writing at.
dvd decrypter is easy to use just stick in game u wont to copy go iso read in the mode drop down menu choose a save place than hit decrypt after this place blank dvd in change mode to iso write choose your iso file u made when reading, choose a low speed 2x will prob b best than hit write.
some games will need to be patched your find out more about that on the forums

sorry but you guys must here this all the time, im a newby trying to work out how to burn ps2 games. i am currently using DVD Decrypter to get to the iso image then using isobuster to extract the image then using Nero to burn the image. However with dynasty warriors 5, there is a file too big (greater than 2 gig) and it wont work with Nero. How do i solve this problem the easiest way possible? what are my other solutions? Help would be greatly appreciated thankyou very much.

@nmd666 it works both ways. You just went a wrong way when you extracted the files from the iso with iso buster.
You only need to use:-
dvd decrypter iso read then iso write
or
dvd decrypter iso read..then burn the image with nero image burner program.

The reason that Nero wouldn't burn it for you before was because you were trying to burn the files that you extracted from the iso.
When using Nero image burning program it doesn't matter. Just burn the iso with Nero.

Hey *waves*. I'm new at this game burning business and i have a few problems (obviously). I'm using DVD Decrypter read the ISO and then i still use it to write the ISO to the DVD which is in an external DVD burner. The thing is that after i do all that the game still won't be recognised on the PS2 therefore it won't play.
What am i doing wrong?
The writing speed i use is 2.4x. The file i burn is '*********.ISO' but there is another file that appears which is '*********.MDS'

Ok, first things first.. what booting method are you using? swap magic or modchip? If swap magic, then you do know that you need to mod your ps2 with (fliptop or slidecard for chunky ps2) or (replacement(aftermarket) fliptop or slimtools for slim ps2) in order to play the backed-up games right?
If all that's in order and you have what you need in order to play the backed-up games...........
Then, what media are you using + or -? and what max speed is it? and what brand?
I'd recommend using Taiyo Yuden, Ritek,Verbatim, TDK or Maxell.. most people get on with them.
After all those things are checked off... then all you should have to do for most games is iso read with decrypter and then burn the .mds file with decrypter or burn the .iso file with Nero or other favourite burning program(your choice) ..but if you're using 8x max media, try burning it at 4x.. then it should be sorted.
What game is it you're trying to back-up by the way? some games need to be rebuilt if you're using swap magic.
hope that helps some, if you want any more help post back on here and i'll get back to you as soon as I can... good luck

Hey eeveryone. I've been having a lot of trouble burning a PS2 game, and you guys seem to know what you're talking about, so here goes. By y'alls suggestion, i'm using DVD Decrypter. I'm trying to burn Fatal Frame 2, and i have used DVD Decrypter to read the ISO file, and that went smoothly. However, when i try to burn the MDS file (or the ISO file, for that matter) it says 'Failed to send cue sheet!' Any suggestions on what that means, or what to do about it? Thanks

Never had or even heard of that error before, so no help there I'm sorry. Only thing I can suggest is to try and burn the iso with a different program like Nero or alcohol120.
If using Nero make sure you select the burn image program and burn at 4x on good media.
Maybe someone else has an idea what the solution to your error you got is.. good luck
