ok use the swap magic-no solder system for my backups, i recently went on a trip to washington DC and brought my ps2. after the long car ride there, i tryed playing my ps2, and something went wrong. You know how you hold down the open button, till it turns orange and it opens? well now it doesn't do that at all, it only opens and closes. Also it doesn't play cds or cd-rs (any compact disc) only dvds. I know it all happened at once, because the last game i played was bust-a-move. Then the next time i played it, it wouldn't open correctly to boot up the ps2. Then i tried playing quake III, didn't work, i went through all of my cds games, and my cds, and kind of cd i had, and it always said "disc read error" but as soon as i used a dvd it booted right up and played.

Also i think that this is also very important, the only cd that ever, ever, works ever, is the swap-magic boot cd, nothing else works, and if i try to boot a cd, it says disc read error! does anyone know what is causing this? is it my modchip? because it reads swapmagic... and its the only thing that could have broken... like maybe it got loose or something on the way there, and it can only read dvds because of that... IDA KNOW!!! i'm at the end of my rope and i would really love to play some of my games, most are scratched now, and i can't even play burnout3 anymore! so could someone please just find the kindness to help me!!

thanks very much!

I dont know why it wont read your CD base games.

But I have sort of a fix for you till you get it fixed.

Alot of people have trouble getting thier PS2 to read backup
PS2 CD-ROM games.

The fix?

Change your PS2 CD-ROM games into PS2 DVD-ROM games.

Here is the link that shows you how. It works great and I have never had a problem converting them and playing them as DVD-ROM. It loads so much better then CD-ROM.

So take a few of your CD-base games you like playing and convert them to DVD till you find out what the problem is.

Which is it? do you have a modchip or not?

Have you took apart your PS2 or did you buy it Pre-modded or is it not modded at all inside the PS2?

What version PS2 do you have? I have V12 and I dont hold the reset on off button down to open it. It has a button towrods the middle of the PS2 to hit to open and close.
