Wow, so you can boot dvds with the cd version of Swap Magic

I was agrivated when my brother one day brought home the cd version of Swap Magic he got froma friend. Apparently, he didn't know there was a difference. So I struggled trying to figure out how I could somehow put this to use, as I had no backups of cd sized games. After much thinking and trial and error, I had given up hope. So I sat staring at the swap magic screen and then decided to finally turn the slim ps2 off for good... but as I hit the reset button, I mustve knocked one of my makeshift swap tool things out of place, because right before the ps2 restarted, I saw "Insert higher TOC disc".

So I restarted and got back to that screen. I put in a real ps2 game and allowed it to read the TOC(Refresh TOC) and finally it asked me to "Insert your program cd", which I then inserted one of my backup dvds and I proceeded to hit X. While otherwise it would promptly display the red border and look at me sideways, this time the game began! Success... I guess that the dvd version isn't really needed then, heh.

Well... guess I just wanted to point that out if anyone else was stuck in my situation with only a cd version.

lol true true, thats y i love the toc refresh thing. so if my dvd cd every get messed, i can depend on my cd version. i also am curious which dvd u used as the toc refresh.

Just an OPM demo disc. Worked quite nicely.

o that demo is probaly a big image. I use my jak3 since it a little bigger than the original swap magic 3.6 dvd image.
