Is it possible to play Copied PS2 Games on ur PS2 without a bloody modchip or Slide Tool?! Because the bad thing about a modchip is that it will screw the warranty on it and the PS2 breaks down in about 5 years, because it happened to my PS1 a couple of years ago.
And with the slide tool...there is a high risk or breaking the bit on the PS2 where u bend the thing like 2 milmetres or something. But anyways, is there an answer? Also can u play copied and real games on a PS2 HDD without the actual CD, like for example if i borrowed a ps2 game from a friend and put it on the HDD, could i play it without the CD? just wonderin! I WANT AN ANSWER!!! I WANT TO PLAY COPIED PS2 GAMES ON MY PS2!! it's a PAL Console by the way from australia.

Hey,
If you want answers here you better stop demanding and start asking ... nicely!

Agree with above, use the search, and get some manners.

i totally agree with the above, but just to get this
post over with your answer is NO!
You can not play back up games without modding your
PS2 with a modchip
or using boot discs(Swap Magic) and slidecard/fliptop

You know, the original posting on this thread just frustrates me. I have bent over backwards writing how-to's on here that basically take you through every step, and a sneeze in between, when it comes to this game archiving arena. It's like all of that information is just a waste when it comes to the "search" function on here not being used.

If wear and tear was an issue to me, I'd surely look for other means to play my backups. Thus, I would discover that not only a mod-chip can be used, but the installation of a new flip lid with accompanying software could promote a successful, no wear-and-tear threat. BTW, the 3rd option you missed is the use of Swap Magic software accompanied with a new lid installation for your PS2 system.

Now, if I were a "newbie" at this PS2 archiving stuff, I wouldn't be demanding answers. I would politely introduce myself, provide my stats about my setup, and present my question. I've always been told that first impressions can be mis-interpreted. However, I can't be wrong in thinking this guy/gal is pushy.

Humm, let's look at this aspect of backing up games, whether they be for a PC, Xbox, PS2, or some other system. If games could simply be copied and burned back to a disc to play, then forums like this wouldn't exist. At the same time, the manufacturers of the games and consoles used to play the games, would be complete idiots. "Let's market a system that folks can just rent a game, copy it, and play it." I don't think that was on the drawing board for either the game or the system at hand to play it.

So, one would conclude that some intervention is needed to get the burned games to play. This would include a technique or two to burn the games correctly, and a means to get the games to load on the device at hand. Heck, I would love it if I could just pour water in my gas tank to keep my Ford Explorer on the road, but doing that would surely lead to a mechanical disaster. I would have to modify my vehicle in some manner to make it able to operate with the use of water as a source of fuel.

In conclusion, the next time you ask a question like you did, 1) approach it on a more subtle note, and secondly, think about what you are asking before you present the issue. Most of the times, the answer is purely obvious.

I've really never ran across other such forceful, demanding presentations to get an answer, outside of yours. If you read my previous posting, you will have your answer at hand.

just copped up my swap magic 3.6 at www.modchipstore.com, for those who don't like to mess around on modding your PS2, buy a premodded PS2. Which would run u about $340.00, but it's alot cheeper just to either use the swap disc, or modding it yourself, you can get the solderless modchip which theres no soldering involved making it eisier for you.
