DIVX to DVD - Causes Audio to Unsync

The only way i have found to put xvid/divx files onto DVD successfully is via the method of:

1 Using Decompress.exe to create the avi with uncompressed sound.
2. run the video through vdub, seperating the audio and video.
3. Run both files into Media Concepts MPEG Encoder to export as Mpeg 2 files
4. Put mpeg 2 files into TMPEG DVD Author and author the files to DVD format.
5. Burn the TS Video files with Nero.

Ive been using this method for ages, and it works perfectly, no loss of sync, or anything, however it is quite a long process!

I noticed that people are raving about DIVX to DVD, and tried it with a XVID NTSC avi with AC3 sound. I converted it into a PAL format DVD using Divsx to DVD. The resulted conversion left me with files, when burn to have badly synced audio. Am i right in thinking it could be due to the ntsc to PAL conversion..or would it have something to do with the Audio codec? (i used to have problems before with any VBR mp3 sound track from avis)

Is there any program out there that actually can get around this laborious task?

Curious and would love to know.

Hi there,

VSO DivXtoDVD v1.99 Pre-Release still has issues with AC3 sound streams.

I am told VSO will do a total rewrite of the decoder in future releases and try to solve all those desync problems.

It's not just DivXtoDVD, reason I say this is I had 1 movie that had the sound out of sync once using DixvToDVD, so I tryed InterVideo DVD Copy 3, and it also had the sound out of sync.

So the way the file is encoded may be 1 cause also !

Having same problem. I was wondering if hard drive needing to be defrag or cleaned could cause this problem?
