Hi i got a mod chip put into my playstation 2 about 3 years ago. I Dont know anything about the chip stupid i know.

To play backed up Non DVD games i had to insert a cd called DVD region x and when it got to the main screen i had to take it out and put in the backup game. I had not tested this on DVD games.

Recently i have got a couple of backed up dvd games and when i try this it doesn't work. I have also tried it by just inserting game but brigns up the redish screen with insert playstation 2 disc.

Could you tell me what could be wrong?

I am considering buying the PS2 flip top and swap magic as maybe i dont have the right chip.

Thanks

Robert

I'm a strong fan of the flip-top lid use with the accompanying Swap Magic software. With my PS-1, I had to do so much editing and patching of the game to get it to work with the installed mod-chip. With my setup of my PS2 (flip lid with Swap Magic boot discs), the game duplication process is much simpler, and more satisfying.
It's easy for game developers to research the mod-chips, install them, and test them to develop means to ensure their games will not work with them. But, I have yet to find a game for my PS2 that I have duplicated that will not work with my Swap Magic - New Lid installation setup.

knowing what mod chip you have would be the key
to solving your problem. Newer mod chips need nothing
extra, they play back up's like originals.
some of the older mod chips just stop the PS2 from
resetting when you swap discs so you may need Swap Magic

Ok Thanks.

I think it would be best to go ahead and buy the flip lid and swap magic as it is not that expensive anyways.
