Hello, I'm new to this whole game and so far all I've wanted to do is pull my hair out with the process i've been told to use but to no avail has it worked.
The drive i am using is a MSI DVD+R/+RW x8 burner, model DR8-A, I am running an ASUS SK8N Board with over a gig of RAM and an Athlon 64 FX-51 Processor, so I don't think this is where my problem is.
Basically what is happening is I am Ripping the DVD's I am trying to back up with DVD Decrypter, and then I am using DVD Shrink To burn the files ripped by Decrypter. (There is an option to burn from DVD shrink if you have a compatable burner on your system.) Now the movies playback fine for a while, but about half way through they start to lock up badly and become un watchable. The dvd's are in mint condition (I just bought them) and the DVD+R's are brand new (Memorex x8)
What am I doing wrong? or is there something that I should doing? or another method I can try, please help before I end up ending someone's life! lol.
I see a big problem here. You're using very crappy media. Memorex is horrible!
Also, how fast are you burning? You shouldn't burn at max speed. If you do, you're just asking for errors. Especially since you're using bad media. Burn at 4x. It takes a little longer, but you'll be happy with the results.
A word of advice, drop the Memorex crap and get some very good quality media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or Ritek.
Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

Memosux! Self explainatory!
Go to staples if you have a nearby store, They have the sony +1x-8x spindles of 50 on sale.Look the label over for these words: Made in Japan. These are the Yuden000-T02 MID code, and probably cheaper than you paid for those memosux!
If you want to use up the rest of the batch of memosux:
Reduce your backup target in dvd shrink: Edit/preferences/click on dvd-5/scroll till custom/enter 4300 mbs next to custom/ok.
Also keep that burn speed slow. You may even have to go as low as 2.4x!
I'll bet those issues show up on a stand alone player? View those backups, mainly the area they act up,using the DVD-RW drive that burned it to play it on your pc.Look for those same issues.
