I know how to make dvd movies but the quality is not good at all. Does anyone know how to increase the quality of the movies or is it that i have to download the movie at a higher resolution in order for this to work. If anyone could help me that would be great. Thanks.

it would be easier to help if you gave us more information.

you said downloading the movie? Are you downloading it or are you ripping it off a DVD?

What programs are you using?
What media are you using?

The more information you can give us the better we can help you.

I'm with larrylje on this one, you need to provided more information and be more specific when asking questions so it's easier for others to help you out.

And I suppose you're burning a downloaded movie from the net? Perhaps the files you got is not a DVD ripped?

So I should be downloading movies off of the program that i am using, Ares at the highest resolution? Or a resolution that is close to 720/480. The programs that I am using for converting AVI, DivX, and all the formats to mpeg is Allok AVI to dvd converter and i am also using DVD Shrink to compress my files. Also if anyone of you guys can tell me any good programs that that can compress files without much loss in dvd quality that would help a lot. Well if you guys could answer this itwould be great. Thanks.

If your downloading the movies off ares then you cant choose the quility of the movie. You are getting a file that somone else riped and edited. You have no control over the quiolty once you get it. Your stuck with what you get.

DivXtoDVD is a decent converting programme. I believe VSO software are still offering the free version for download. The best you can hope for after downloading AVI or DivX etc is that it will be watchable. If you download in mpeg format that gives the best conversion results.
