I've never heard of those before, but they might be garbage. Try DVD Identifier and if the Manufacturer Name says CMC Mag, then it is crap.

it IS crap, and on the 8x DVD-R, it is FAKE TY coding...stay away from this stuff~

Sonic DVD+R 4.7GB LONGTEN.002 4x (omg, below crap..worse than CMC MAGs)

Sonic DVD+R 4.7GB VDSPMSAB001 8x (i don't feel like repeating myself, this is horrible~)

you might have found a "good deal" on these, you will definitely GET WHAT YOU PAY for, i really hope you didn't just invest in 1000 of this $hit~ :)

Pariah, I see on another thread that you started that you use Verbatims regularly, why are you trying to go backwards? I will say from experience that you end up wasting time and money when you use poor quality media. Stick with the Verbatims or STEP UP to TY if you want consistent positive results.....

I love my Verbatims, it is just getting harder to find them where I live, as the stores that carried them (like Best Buy) seem to be switching toward other brands. As I haven't dabbled with other brands, I don't know whether I could get as good quality with an easier to buy (or at least less expensive) brand. If I can find affordable sources for Verbatims, I'd like to use them - but if I can't, I like to know what the best alternatives are.

Maxell is a good choice and if you live near an office depot their "house brand" actually identifies as ricohjapan which is pretty good...at least the +Rs are.

another good alternative for what i consider THE BEST in DVD+R media would be the Fuji & Sony brand (MUST BE MADE IN JAPAN on the wrapper) found locally at bestbuy/staples/etc. :)

BOTH of these in the 8x DVD+R (made in japan) are YUDEN000T02 coded, which are GENUINE Taiyo Yudens...some of the best stuff i have used..this and the Verbatim 8x/16x DVD+R (MCC003/MCC004 coded made in taiwan)

if Verbs are becoming more and more scarce for you, then go with the Fuji and Sony 8x DVD+R media (*important to get the made in japan ones, otherwise, what i said above WILL NOT hold true, they will NOT be Taiyo Yuden manufactured if you get the made in taiwans) :)

hope that helps you out a bit Pariah...
