What kind of media are you using?
What movie are you trying to back up?

Have you updated your firmware?

Changed your booktype?

If your player doesn't recognize the disc and both of your computers don't recognize the disc maybe the disc is not being burned like you think that it is.

Us explorer and see what is on the disc.

Open Decrypter and use the Tools Tab, then Drive and Capabilities. You will see the make and model of your burner and the current firmware. Looks like this

Also under Drive you will see Check for Firmware, this will take you to the rpc site for current firmware.

Well you are about 4 updates behind, and updating aids the drive in recognizing new media and burn speeds. Flashing is always a risk, but if you don't the burner will not recognize newer media. It is up to you. If you do then dl the file and unzip and click on the file, after the flash reboot your PC.

brett14,
There is no other way to do it. It really is easy to do. If you are not sure of what you are doing find a friend that has done it and let them do it for you. We always tell the people that if you do it incorrectly then you can make the burner toast but that only happens when you use the incorrect firmware update to make the burner do something it was not designed to do. This is no more different than doing a Windows update IMHO

@brett14,

I believe your firmware is "1M34". Try here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=750 click on it to download, once it's completed, make sure there is no CD or DVD inside your Toshiba drive, then click on the firmware file to run. Once it's done, it will probably ask you to restart your computer to change the firmware.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

brett14 ,
If the firmware update can not find your burner then the problem is w/ the burner or the IDE Channel.
Try this . Go into device manager and find the burner and then right click it to uninstall it. re-boot and let windows re-install the drive properly. Now try the update. If that fails go back to device manager and go to the IDE/ ATA controllers and expand that so you can see the secondary IDE Controllers. Uninstall them and then re-boot. Try the flash again. If that fails verify the cables are seated properly on the MOBO and the DVD drive. If all of that fails then take it to the PC Doc to have them diagnose what is wrong
