Futureshop Canada has a wicked deal on Dynex +/- R 4X 100 Spindles, $79.99 with a $50 instant rebate, so its $29.99 at the till. The 200 box is on for $59.99

The website is showing the box of 200 for $29.99 however i was informed this was an error... which sucks

anyways checked out the media. the +R's seem to be good quality. no coasters yet, no problems burning in my Lite-On SOHW 1633S or playing in my Koss KS3120-2

Dynex discs are Best Buy's house brand. How about IDing those discs and reporting the results. I'm sure that they're generic-generics

Ha Ha Ha ... Looks like CMC Mag might just be the BEST manufacturer that they use for the 4x Dynex garbage ...

ArCaine.............you will do better if you wait for FujiFilm or Maxells to go on sale at FutureShop. They are a more trusted brand and sales are usually in the $29.99 to $39.99 range for a 100 spindle.
Look for Made in Japan on the upc label. I have also used Made In Taiwan Maxells +r's which id as Ritek, and have had very good success on my Liteon burner. I pick up the Made in Japan if at all possible.

Walmart sells 50 pack of Maxells for $24.99 CAD. Regular price, if you are really stuck for media.

This is also the ID for CompUSA housebrand, I bought a trial pack of 15 of these and could not get them to burn on three different burners, they were really bad.

@ArCaine I have had no problems with Ritek R03 with my LiteOn burner. Do a couple of burns, put them through DvdInfoPro to check for errors, then watch them on your standalone player.

Interesting is something I read at CdFreaks on Ritek R03. It appears that Ritek R03 from Maxell and Fuji tend to be better media than from the online media shops. These were comments from members that seemed to know what they were doing. ie. Long time members, Kprobe scans, etc. I wish I had bookmarked.

Good Luck!

I have been using those Fuji R03's with no problems on any of my burners, and the playback is great, my Plex scans have been coming up excellent.

Wow, theres some cheap prices here. I wish in Australia they had such cheap prices. I would order online but with all the shipping costs it would end up costing about the same.

I noticed there was also a sale on Fujifilm 100 spindles for 32$, and Kodak 100 spindle for 29$. Is there a major quality difference between the two? I mean, I've never heard of Kodak DVD-R's, I wouldn't think they're any good.

I personally would stay away from Kodak, never tried and never will. I have no idea what they code out to be.

I have some Dynex i bought a few months ago, and they code out RITEK R03 these were +Rs. I guess Dynex brand is like memorex, you never known until you id them who made the discs, and if CMC mag is hiding in there, it isn't worth the risk.

Die CMC Mag!!!

just for you spitzfire, don't even THINK about the Kodak stuff, these are CRAP~ :) man, im on a CRAP roll tonight~ wheeeeeeeeeeee!~!

Kodak DVD-R 4.7GB CMC MAG. AF1 4x (crap at slow speed)
Kodak DVD-R 4.7GB MAM4XG02.... 4x (crap again)
Kodak DVD-R 4.7GB MAM8XG01.... 4x (OMG, wtf interswitched the MID coding to double the # before the "x" and then divide the number after the "G0" LOL)
Kodak DVD-R 4.7GB ProdiscS03 4x (you gotta be kidding me)
Kodak DVD-R 4.7GB VANGUARD.... 4x (not much worse than THIS)
Kodak DVD+R 4.7GB CMC MAG.E01 8x (ouch CMC MAG is tearin it up)
Kodak DVD+R 4.7GB MEDIA ID001 4x (this one is SO generic, they just simply use "mediaID001" for the media ID code~ LOL)
Kodak DVD+R 4.7GB PRODISC.R02 4x (prodisc is NOT good)
Kodak DVD+R 4.7GB PRODISC.R03 4x (repeat on the above)
Kodak DVD+R 4.7GB VDSPMSAB001 8x (c'mon now...shall i continue?)

ok, that was a waste of like 3 min. of my life...so, simply put, do you catch my drift? i often times like to make these personal "lists" of mine just to educate people on media...i've done this for MANY different brands, so people can get an idea of what the RISK FACTOR is when buying them...do yourself a favor, use the "good stuff" in my signature (IF they are available in your area of course, you are only limited by WHAT is available in your country, NOT by the lack of knowledge you SHOULD have before making a purchase~) :)

that's MY advice to you~

docTY~

good day to you all, wherever you are in the world~ :)

i'm on a media examination ROLLLLLLLLLL tonight~!

OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was told by one of the tech guys in the Future Shop in Brantford Ontario canada, he assured me that the Dynex brand is hands down a good brand and for 15 cents canadian (10 cents US) and they have had NO returns on ANY of his shifts, so I bought 5 x's 200 disc packs=1000, i have no idea on their quality does anyone know of the quality of the Dynex 100-Pack 4X 4.7GB DVD-R, please can someone link me a site to compare the different disks or their codes...
thanks again and PEACE OUT...

Is there a thread that you could direct me to that would assist me in learning to read the logs?

Thanks for the help.

Seriously, have you guys never heard of Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim? What is all this talk about Dynex and Fujifilm. Who cares...I just started buying Verbatim 8x and have gone through about 40 - 50 discs and have yet to find an error. Not to mention you can print directly on the DVD. I guess I just don't understand the debate over which crappy brand is more decent than the other, or with one is less of a rip-off. Why aren't you guys buying TY's or Verbatims??
