Ok first of all, I've read many many threads on this forum and I really appreciate everyone's input. My problem is that I am able to successfully burn PS2 DVD ISOs using DVD Decrypter, but they won't play on either one of my machines. I have a Slim (V12 PS2) with a DMS 4 Chip, as well as a DHT 30001 Debugging Machine (Basically a PS2 modified by Sony to play burnt games, and leased out to various developers so that they can continuously burn and update games they are working on)
I have four different games in ISO format that I have obtained online, all came in .RAR format initially, which I used WINrar to succesfully unpack. This resulted in me getting one ISO file for each game. I then opened up DVD decrypter and used the ISOs as the source and my SONY dvd writer as the destination (obviously burning only 1 iso per DVD), and selected 1x as the burn speed. The games all burnt slowly, but completed successfully with no errors reported. The three types of DVD media I tried were Memorex, TDK and LG, and all DVD-r format. First I burned three games at 1x on these three DVDs. None of them would read in either machine. I decided to try again, I inserted a DVD and opened Decrypter, then I noticed that under the burn speed options, it said 4x 6x or 8x. I didn't see a 1x option for the DVDs I was using.
I decided to make three more attempts using 4x. Once again they all burned, and once again none of them loaded and I got a red screen asking for a valid PS2 disc. I am at a loss. Are these media brands basically crap or what? Is it a speed issue about the disks having a 4x, 6x and 8x burn capability, and me trying to burn at 1x? When I insert the DVDs into my DVD writer, the files look exactly like they do when I view the original ISOs in WINrar.
I thought it might be a hardware problem with the PS2's, but I have one old game that was burned on Verbatim 4x dvd-r, and it works on both machines with zero problems. The problem is that I have no clue how the person burned this game, and I cannot find any Verbatim 4x dvd-rs anywhere, they all say 6x or higher on the disk now. My DVD writer is new, so is my PC, and both PS2s are in excellent shape.
Can I use NERO to burn these games, even though they are over 2GB? I have the latest version of NERO, but it gave me some warning about the files I am burning being over 2gb and they might not read or something like that. My PC/DVD writer combo has no problem burning DVDs and Dreamcast (cdr) games, I've never had a coaster until I started trying to make PS2 dvd back ups. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
