your not able to play a backup of socom 2 online, so they probably did the same thing for socom 3.

Yeah it seems like everybody who claims they did this with Socom 2 forgets how. I'd agree with Sly on this one. If you search the forums there is no credible source that claims to have played a backup of Socom 2 or 3 online. Here's an interesting solution proposed by Mr. Noob, though this would only work if you have the original: I found away around the system! ok I'm presuming this will work with socom 2 as well, now when you accept the agreement and log in a couple seconds later it boots you out and bans you right? well get through all the crap before the ban part, and right before it does swap your disc out, then select a game, then slide the game back in and you're set to go!

last year i got my socom 2 backup to go online, but only lasted about two weeks, then i was "detected cheating". socom 3, still no luck, im still a damn cheater. for the time my socom 2 did work, i just used the typical patch with windip disc id and she worked fine. workED....

NTSC

SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs (SCUS_974.74)
(Size = 4,860,564 bytes)
Disc ID = XX XX 04 70 34

Does any of that mean anything?

Yeah, thats the dnas id. just make up numbers for the XX XX part. I highly doubt its going to work though.

of coarse an original disc will work, im saying i don't think patching a burnt copy will work online for socom.

Yeah people were able to play Socom 2 when it first came out. Then they added an extra security measure or something, which prevents anyone from playing a backup of Socom 2 or 3 online. It may be possible, but again noone with any credibility has succeeded in doing so.
