what dvd editing softwares do you recommend? Most of the editing softwares I tried only accepts files directly from a MiniDV camcorder. I have a mini DVD camcorder so I need software that will indeed accept my .VOB files... Adobe premiere I heard it's way too complicated, so i need something a little more user friendly...thank you all in advance

Dear apercele,

I have a sony dvd camcorder myself. My suggestion would be to use the mini dvds like regular dvds --- insert them into the dvd rom, rip, edit, and copy from there, instead of connecting the camcorder to the pc with e.g. usb or fireware. This is simpler, easier, and the ouputs are always better.

but if i rip the files, it still comes out as VOB files, doesn't it??
the software I have tells me it can't accept VOB files....do other softwares accept VOB's, or should I convert them to other formats?
otherwise, what relatively simple softwares do you all recommend that lets me be creative as far as special effects, etc?

Mini dvds work exactly like regular dvds, except they're smaller. So you can use Decrypter, Shrink, Nero ... or whatever to rip, author, and copy them in whatever way you like. This actually was why I went for a dvd camcorder in the first place. For some strange reason, many people don't realize this, and keep comparing a dvd camcorder to a dv camcorder in terms of data transfer via usb etc.. This would be stupid thing to do when you can just insert the mini dvd into the drive and do whatever you like with it.

So just treat your mini dvds as regular dvds and enjoy the simplicity of working with them.

So if you want to rip, author, and burn a compilation, just rip the mini dvds as e.g. mpeg or avi with e.g. ImTooDVD Ripper, then use Nero to create a menu or whatever.

Happy dvd editing!
