I'm having some problems when it comes to playing backups on my slim PS2. I can boot into the games just fine via Swap Magic, yet I am thinking that maybe I am having problems due to cheap media. Games take forever to load, even if I try a rebuilt burn, and any movie files tend to play for just a few seconds before freezing and then either resuming for a few more seconds or skipping the movie entirely. In-game music fails often, either skipping like a scratched CD or going out altogether. In-game load times are just as shot as the initial loading, and I've even gotten garbled graphics in some instances.
I'm using a Sony DRU-810A burner and, at the suggestion of someone on another forum, I grabbed some Verbatim DVD-Rs from Best Buy. Considering that I'm getting the same results from 2.4x speed (slowest it will let me go) burns with DVD Decrypter, Nero, and Alcohol, I'm thinking maybe it's my media here. The Verbatim in question are 16x, with a manufacturer code of MCC 03RG20.
Isn't Mitsubishi Chemical supposed to be good stuff, and Verbatim just that much better? Sorry if this seems newbish, but after buying 50 apparently worthless discs, I want to see if there's any way to make these things work for this purpose. If not, I'm told that http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo...media-100.html is great for this purpose, but... really. Wasting money on 50 discs was bad enough. Will I be doing the same again with these 100? I'd appreciate any input from someone with relevant experience. Thanks!
yeah, i always do them at 4X too
And yes those should be good discs
They also make the Philips i always use
I prefer 8X DVD-R burned with DVD Decrypter
and your burner is top notch
I have the older model DRU-700A and love it
have made too many back ups to count and they all work.
Yes, burning games at 4x seems to work great. I've only tried it out with two of the ones I had problems with before, but they both run like a charm now. I am one happy camper. Thanks, guys!
