As everybody knows its essential to have a headset in socom. And I have had socom throughout the first two and my headset worked properly. But now in socom 3 even after putting my ps2 into DMZ i still cant talk or hear (its not the mic because i have 2 and they both work in single player). Anyone else wit this problem or suggestions please post!!

If you are using d-link DI-604, you can follow the instructions at this link... http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=1468#604. All I had to do, after opening the ports, was enable gaming mode.

I don't know why I had to do this special thing when my headset was working just fine for socom 1 and 2.

Go figure!

If you check out the forums on the SOCOM 3 message board in game a lot of people hve this problem and all say it has nothing to do with their router because many of them have direct hookups to their modem, which is just like what i did by putting my ps2 into DMZ.

I called Sony anfd told them that I couldn't hear anything either. They told me to open ports 6000-7000 and 10070 (all UDP). That didn't work. I put the PS2 on my router's (Belkin Pre-N Router) DMZ. Still nothing. Does anyone know what ports S3 is using for the headset?

I fixed my problem, I read a thread on the socom playstation forum that told me how to fix it.

Logged into socom online...
I went into my router 192.168.0.1 (Netgear)...
Found my attached Playstation in "Attached Devices"...
Found my local IP Address (Example 192.168.0.5)..
Went into WAM Settings, checked DMZ BOX, entered my ip 192.168.0.5...
this then showed on my socom screen it said "Rattboy is online"...
Next, I went into PORT TRIGGERING/PORT FORWARDING...
created a new PORT FORWARDING..
Entered my ip, 192.168.0.5, selected UDP, Ports 6000-6999, saved it..
Logged into socom, and NOW MY MIC WORKS!

Only thing that sucks is I have to do this every time I want to play socom, its because of my Netgear router blocking it, is why I cant hear. I use an Xbox "LAN" Wireless device on my PS2, because I can't use a direct LAN cable. Thats why I had that problem.

GOOD LUCK!

ive pretty much done everything possible to play socom with my headset (except hook it up directly to the modem, as this is not good for me) and i think socom is a bunch of BS. I havnet even played in about 2 weeks so they better be thinking of something or doing something to fix this $hit cause now i cant bad tlak the mofo's who flippin kill me!!!!!!!!
