Ok, I imported the Japanese version of DBZ: sparking.. It is NTSC, but I don't understand Japanese. Then yesterday I obtained the PAL version, which is multi-language. Is there anyway I can extract the iso and switch certain files to make the PAL version into NTSC because they are essentially the same game, but the stupid PAL version is messed up.. and yes I've patched it, but some significant areas are not visible. there is file called SLES_523.00 or something in the NTSC version and something similar in the JP version, could it be a simple matter of switching the two or is it more complicated? thanks.

Does the USA version needs rebuilding?
It's 4.2 gig!

No a straight burn should work. Usually dual layer games are the ones that need to be rebuilt. Try a straight burn with DVD Decrypter. Remember a single layer DVD-R can hold around 4.7 Gigs. Make sure to use decent media.

yeah it works fine with regular DVD-R. I tried switching the elf files (SLES_32.00) with the the one on the JP.. didn't work another coaster... hmmm I dunno what to try now. At least I was successful in changing the cruddy music from the PAL version to the JP original soundtrack.. im thinking ill give up and just get a converter.. or be patient and wait for the US to come out.

p.s. yes i know about the patch and it works fine.. but i want to try and get full screen somehow.

did you check the thread I posted earlier it was tutorial for patching PS2 games from PAL to NTSC. Here's an alternate download for the Y-fix patcher: http://www.megagames.com/console/cgi-bin/dl.cgi?id=psx&file=gf-yf...

yeah i did, thanks for that. And I did try it, but the thing is, the patch will only adjust the screen, it will do nothing about the signal. I'm doing a lot of trial and error, but i think I'm getting closer to figuring out how to swich the JP version NTSC signal with the Euro PAL singal through files in the iso.

Yeah that'd be a neat trick if you pull it off. Wouldn't it be easier to buy a PAL-NTSC converter? I know nothing about those, so I guess they could be expensive.

or you could try editing the SYSTEM.cnf file and changing the VMODE from PAL to NTSC and try it out.

CAn I just switch the System file from the Japanese NTSC version with the PAL version to make it work? Please let me know. BTW do you know what the .vol file is and the .bin files in the iso?

.bin and .vol are normal files associated with an iso. If you look at the contents of any DVD backup in windows explorer it is broken down into a bunch of folders and files. .bin, .vol., .sfv, .exe, .mov, are common extensions you will find. Good Luck with that.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big DBZ fan, but when did the PLOT of DBZ really enhance the show at all? Everybody's dead. Collect Dragonballs. Goku needs to ascend to new power level. Collect Dragonballs. Bulma's been impregnated by Majin Buu, collect Dragonballs. See my point lol. I'd say if the NTSC-Jap version plays, deal with the Japanese voices until the U.S. release. Kamehameha sounds the same whatever language you hear it in.

Oh dont get me wrong I love all the Japanese voices and music, I actually want them, it's just that there are some elements lost in translation in the game such as the Evolution Z system; I can't read the damn items and what they do and other extras.. oh well.

Take down your email avjgt, it's against forum rules to post your email address. Don't want to see you get banned for something stupid.

This for HD Loader, may not be same for advance:
Mode 1 = slower hdd access
Mode 2 = enable DVD9 flattened to DVD5 support
Mode 3 = flush hdloader from ps2 memory upon loading game

Here's an HD advance tutorial: http://www.hdadvance.com/hd_advance_how-to-use.htm
Here's a compatibility list with HD advance: http://forum.hdadvance.com/hd_advance_compatibility.asp
To burn PS2 games use DVD Decrypter. Here's a guide: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html Burn at 1x, then 2x, then 4x, until it works. Use good media.
