ok man, i did all that and it worked like a charm, with one small problem: the disc keeps spinning. i can't switch it out, and when i make a desperate attempt to do so while it's still spinning it confuses the crap out of the laser and it sits there making this weird clicking noise. i really hope that i've made some totally obvious crap up and you can correct me, 'cause i really don't want to buy a mod chip to play games here.

you can buy Swap Magic and a flip top instead
that would be the correct equipment for playing
your back up games.
It is not too expensive, you can get them both on the net
for somewhere around $35-40

are you shure you are doing it properly
and as i said i havent tried it out yet as i am in the prossese of buying ar max from ebay and then i have to wait for postage

are you selecting start without cheats and do swap trick?????????

and steimy some people like me dont want to spend money to get that i am in au and the only place i buy from online is the au ebay and i was saving up to get ar max anyway
and some people that have ar max don't want to spend more money if they can do it with what they got

yeah, i press start, hit "without cheats" and then it says "please ensure your game is inserted" but it doesn't stop spinning. if it makes any difference (which it probably doesn't) i'm trying to play a japanese game, not a backup, which is something my gamecube ar had no problem doing without precarious blue-tack and paperclip modification. maybe the problem here is i'm not fully understanding the swap trick, if it involves anything more complicated than what's listed under "swap trick" in your description then no, i'm not doing it, and i would deeply appreciate it if you could tell me what it entails.

I just got ar max and have the same problem. Did you get it working? Even though the disc spins, do games work if you change it forcefully? I tried and they didn't.

trust me man, i tried everything i could think of and it still didn't work. a few things i've been reading are suggesting that if you have regular ar for ps2 it might work, but i don't have access to a copy so i don't know if they're true. a friend of mine with a bit more experience than i in these matters is coming over tomorrow to see if we can get some other ideas to work, if we get any results i'll let you know. DO NOT try to remove the disk while it's spinning, not only does it confuse the laser, but if you're not coordinated enough you run the risk of seriously scuffing your disk with the spinny part. i even had an indiana jones moment where i tried switching the still spinning disc with the one i want to play in such a way that the ps2 couldn't tell a disc had been removed. i failed just about as miserably as he did, only i didn't get chased by a boulder. anyway, like i said, i'll update you on the results tomorrow.

thanks

i went on to ebay to buy ar max evo but in the discription it said not compatible with slim ps2 but that isnt true is it because i want to by it so i can try it

and also negrillon do you have any usb stick
if so does it work with ar max because if so you can load something called cogswap loader and you can swap the disk if you do i can try
to help set it up

well, nothing we did worked either, so it's still up in the air as to how to get this thing to work. as for the compatibility issue kyle was having i can't imagine it not working for slimlines, that just wouldn't make sense. unfortunately, mine is regular armax so i don't have any firsthand experience with evo edition, but mine works perfectly for everything but this on my slim. also, to answer your question, no i don't have a pen drive although i do have the software that comes with armax that allows you to burn discs that will run on ps2s, so i can put a loader on that according to some of the other forums here.

Is there a substitute for bluetack, or can someone explain what bluetack is?
