I have no problem burning one copy with DVD shrink, but if I want 2 or more copies I have to reinput the original and go through the whole decoding, compressing process again. So it takes ages! Is there a way of using the files it's saved as compressed files to simply burn on to a 2nd blank DVD? I've tried using the saved files but don't really know what I'm doing and can't get it to work. I've tried using nero, but it takes ages doing something to the files and then tells me I need a double sided disk! I've only got one DVD drive/burner in my PC so you have to take out the origial and put the blank one in.
Thanks for any advice.

i don't do things the way you do for this very reason. i use DVD Shrink to rip films to hard disc with no automated burning. The files are written to a folder of my choice and just sit there. then i use Nero Burning Rom to burn a 'dvd-video' compilation. this way i'm able to burn as many copies as necessary and obviously these files can stay on hard disc as long as i want them to.

to backup a previously backed-up disc (and it's files are no longer on the hard drive) becaused that film has it's encryption removed you can simply copy/paste the video_ts folder from the backed-up disc to hard drive via windows explorer, then burn to a.n.other blank disc as i've described

I don't copy the creaky way. I do it more like the way you are trying to do it.

What program you burning with, nero or dvd decrypter?

I auto burn with nero, oem. When I start my first backup,I either do main movie or entire disc, When I click backup, you'll see all your settings and options.
It automaticly opens with target device, check make sure Select backup target is set to your dvd-rw drive.Just below that is select folder for temporary files. Each time I rip a new dvd, after the first burn, those temporary files will go back into another folder with the movie name.I usually create new folder/name of movie/and ok and the folder is set.

After every backup, those files have to go some where. You can keep those movies on for a while,or delete them immediately.

After the first rip and burn, you don't need the original disc anymore. To make another copy, simply:

Open up dvd shrink
open files
locate that movie you just burned
click ok
Double check your backup settings. This time another set of files will go to another folder for temporary files/just under your select backup target.Make the new folder:Old dvds or something you can remember. That will be set for temporary files. You can use that folder for any movie that you make extra copies of.

When you do a new movie, create it's own folder on the first copy, use an old folder for extra copies.

Each time you make a copy to that Old Movie folder,it'll ask you to delete them, click yes and the new movie will go there.

Now I'm confused...When I want multiple copies I backup w/ DVD Shrink like Saugmon and create and ISO file. That ISO file ( which has already been encoded ) should be able to be accessed through DVD Decrypter by going to Mode/ISO/Write...select desired file and burn as many times as you like.

I make multiple copies with DVDdecrypter easily. I do not have the files erased upon backup completion, nor do I have the computer automatically shutdown. When the backup is finalized, and the popup window says you are good to go I click okay and wait a second for DVDdecrypter to recognized the completed disc, then remove it, insert another blank, allow recognition, and then click the write button.

I did this all day today and backed up multiple copies of my movies for my kids (4). No problems doing this.

I am a happy camper cause I got my system back yesterday (it has been out of commission for two weeks) and have burning like crazy.

Another option, great for when that original movie is erased off your hard drive, but you have a good quality backup you want copies from:

Dvd decrypter: Mode ISO read to hard drive/replace backup disc with blank disc/ Mode ISO write/locate mds file/open/ok/click burn icon. Takes about 5 mins to rip using my backup 598 mhz p3 celeron.

After the first copy is finished using dvd decrypter in Mode ISO Read/just insert blank/click burn icon again. The settings should already be set to make even more copies.15 minute copies after that for how ever many you need.

To do that option, I suggest quality branded media and a 4x burn speed max.The poor media/too fast burn speed/or combination of both may yield crc errors and difficult to re-rip.

Sorry my first post sounded confusing,I hit the reply button way too soon and hurried through the rest, LOL.

Those temporary files should still be somewhere on your harddrive after you do the first rip. Those files will say: Video_TS.BUP,Video_TS.IFO,VTS_01_0.BUP... If that is how you ripped it to start with. I saw a couple of good pics by arniebear that i'll try to send.

That set up for making extra copies using dvd shrink and nero to autoburn,as long as those temporary files are still on the hard drive. It works on both my pcs.Dual drive, very nice,no waiting around for disc to spit out and insert blank. And on my single drive spare pc,a lot slower with that 598 mhz. That's why I use dvd decrypter ISO read and ISO write on that small pc,very quick copies.

a simple solution for you is to upgrade your Nero to that of recode. After the initial encoding and reading of ther movie and collection of files takes place , approx 3 mins the burn process kicks in.This takes me about 13 mins for the 1st burn. After the 1st burn is done you have the option of making as many copies as you like. Each subsequent copy takes about 9 mins.

My stats are : p4 64 bit board
3.2 gig chip
1024 DDR ram

OR take your backup and run it though nero just using the disc copier (burning on the fly) as refered to, or take the backup run it through dvd decrypter ISO read ISO write very easy

@saugmon - nice one, i wasn't sure if the files would still be around even as some kind of 'temporary' files as i hadn't done that before, i like more control over stuff, but it's good to know the files are still around; i'll have to remember that in future.

i'll edit the 2nd paragrpah in my previous reply as it's not very clear..
