Hi Im using DL media now but when I transcode my comp restarts.
When Im transcoding with dvd shrink, on P4 3.0 ghz, 384ram, HT technology LAPTOP I suddenly get the "blue screen of death" and my computer restarts, has anyone had these types of problems or have any solutions? I have no spyware/viruses.

Why are you using Shrink, just use DVD Decrypter in iso read mode and the open the MDS file and use iso write mode. There is no need to transcode, Shrink uses to much of your CPU especially if you are using a laptop

I am using win xp professionl, and I dont wanna waste a DL disc on a movie that can be transcoded to like 85% quality.do you think the program is the fault, one of my buddies suggested it was from my video drivers? Ati 9000 128mb vid card.

could be heat-related..sounds daft but try tilting the back of the laptop up slightly..

I had an ATI 9600 128mg on my previous comp and never had a problem. Have you updated the drivers for the card? Also try disabling the video preview when running Shrink, see if this helps. Could be an overheating problem, try a fan on the computer. Do rip first with Decrypter this will place less stress on the computer. If you are using deep analysis and AEC this is very intensive. Shrink uses 100% of the CPU. I know my AMD laptop has shutdown due to overheating several times. I got one of those cooling fan pads for underneath and it has helped.

I agree, it cetainly could be a over-heating problem, but you might want to check available memory....bring up Task Manger and select Performance to see how much available memory you have.

Good luck,

I think there is something else going on with your computer since you are having this problem in the burning stage. Burning does not take that much CPU to do, whereas transcoding does and with Shrink will cause your computer to shutdown because of overheating. When you are doing this as styguy suggested bring up your Task Manager and see what your usage is. Try to close down as many unecessary programs as possible.
