first of all update your Nero to 6.6 also what media are you using sounds like that may be your problem.

Duck tape is like the force, it has a light side, a dark side and it holds the world together.

...and let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar. You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

What type of media are you using and how fast are you burning?
I successfully backed up Kingdom of Heaven using Taiyo Yuden media burning at 4x.

Get rid of the Memorex. They really are low quality DVD's. No quality control. Like creaky said "Post the Nero Log" so we can look at it as that might not be your only problem

- as i say, the only problem with pasting multiple sections of logfile is your serial sneaks in
Quote:

- EDIT OUT any references to your serial number from your reply

Nero API version: 6.3.0.0
- too old, update to latest 6.x version 6.6.0.16

Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-812S> Version: US0F
- that firmware's way too old, US0S is here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1792

CdRomPeripheral : VOBID InstantDrive CD 14 VOBID Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off
- DMA needs to be ON. Can you try and uninstall Intel Application Accelerator as 'IdeChnDr' are the drivers for the pesky Intel Application Accelerator, and all i seem to see about that is people recommended to ditch the blessed thing.
Quote:
Physical memory : 255MB (261616kB)
Free physical memory: 61MB (62528kB)

- 512MB is the minimum i recommend for dvd work, for now you're gonna have to close down as many programs as you can prior to any dvd work to try to free up more memory
Quote:
Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28)
Last address to be written: 2286126 (508:01.51)
- you're burning too close to outer edge of discs. If you use DVD Shrink, set target size to 4300MB in Shrink's preferences thus avoiding outer edge and not sacrificing much space. plus Nero's too out of date so that paragraph is missing some if it's more helpful info. this is similar to what it should look like
Quote:
Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
Last address to be written: 2286127 (508:01.52, 4465MB)
- so that shows that you're burning to outer edge of discs - 4465MB is right out there on the edge.

- that's Roxio, it doesn't play well with Nero, uninstall Roxio and you may need to google search for 'Roxio Zapper' in order to fully remove that atrocious software

And while it's on mind here's a rundown on companies such as Memorex (have copy/pasted from one of many links in my sig) -

the trouble with people like Memorex is they use widely varying quality in disc manufacturers, the most appalling being CMC Magnetics (hence the media code 'CMC Mag'). Memorex aren't the only ones who do this, others are HP, TDK, Imation etc.

snippet from a good list here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/155431 (media codes in brackets) -

Memorex DVD+R 16X (CMCMAG M01)
Memorex DVD+R 4x (CMC MAG.F01)
Memorex DVD+R 4x (MBIPG101-R03-000)
Memorex DVD+R 4x (RICOHJPNR01)
Memorex DVD+R 4x Printable (MCC-003-000)
Memorex DVD+R 8X (CMC MAG E01)
Memorex DVD+R 8X (PHILIPSC08)
Memorex DVD+R 8X (PRODISCR03)
Memorex DVD+RW 2.4x (CMC MAG.W01)
Memorex DVD+RW 2.4x (INFODISCA01)
Memorex DVD+RW 2.4x (RICOHJPNW01)
Memorex DVD+RW 4x (CMC MAG.W02)
Memorex DVD+RW 4x (MKM-A02)
Memorex DVD+RW 4x (RICOHJPNW11)
Memorex DVD-R 2x (CMC MAG.....)
Memorex DVD-R 2x (TAIYOYUDEN..)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (CMC MAG. AF1)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (MBI 01RG20)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (MCC 01RG20)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (ProdiscS03)
Memorex DVD-R 8X (CMC MAG AE1)
Memorex DVD-RW 1x (ProdiscDVDRW)
Memorex DVD-RW 2x (RITEKW01) MINI DVD-RW 1.36GB
Memorex DVD-RW 2x (RITEKW01....)
Memorex DVD-RW 2x (TDK502sakuM3)
MemorexDVD-RAM 2x (Optodisc)

So....for instance, in that list there are 3 varieties of +R 8x (none of which i'd say are any good really)

Memorex DVD+R 8X (CMC MAG E01)
Memorex DVD+R 8X (PHILIPSC08)
Memorex DVD+R 8X (PRODISCR03)

and here...all i'd say where any good are the MCC coded ones -

Memorex DVD-R 4x (CMC MAG. AF1)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (MBI 01RG20)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (MCC 01RG20)
Memorex DVD-R 4x (ProdiscS03)

The trouble is, you wouldn't know which ones you're gonna get, just buy picking up a pack of Memorex. And that's part of the reason why so many people have problems with them, they see the name Memorex, associate it with quality cassettes (for instance) in the dim distant past etc etc, and it's the luck of the draw as to what disc manufacturer actually made them. Hence why i won't buy Memorex, HP, TDK, Imation etc etc etc. There are ways with some companies discs, to work out which ones you're gonna get, ie what sort of tubs they're in, are they -R, what speed are particular discs etc etc but most people on the street just haven't got that knowledge and just don't care about all that. I have feet in both camps, i need to have knowledge of media, but i just want media to work, and work consistently and for good :)

Go to Device Manager click on Hardware and look for the IDE / Ata Controllers. Click on the + sign and expand the list. Look under Secondary Ide Controllers and find the burner and enable it. If you can not enable it then right click on that secondary IDE Controller and uninstall it and let Windows re-install it properly.
D/l A free Registry Cleaner(Google for it) and clean the registry as that can cause the conflicts that cause the OS to revert the system into PIO.

Set Target size to custom -4300 to keep from burning to the edge

Creaky,
Sorry but you usually beat me as Nero Logs do require time to look at and then type up the reply. I really wish there was a quicker way to do it. Maybe someone can write a program that analyzes the Log and then automatically fixes the computer. LOL but you would retire rich if it could be done
