i just started moding i was doing good my only problem is that when i go to load the map the screen goes black and stays black and i never get to the game. Can someone please help me with this.

Sometimes when I do a whole bunch of modding on a map I will get that black screen you are talking about. Try reverting back to the original map and doing a single simple mod (such as increasing the human throw distance) and see if that works. Also make sure you are resigning your maps. If this still doesn't work try deleting Halo 2 off your xbox and then rip it back on. If none of this works then let me know and I'll see if I can think of anything else you can try.

A "system link cable" is the same as a cross over cable, it will work.

at the beinging of the forum it tells instructions, and gives a site that you have to download for it to work, what i meant was do i have to download that program?

or hard mod?
then if yes, it tells you exactly what to do, just follow it, and if there are problems, just ask.

If you hook up your xbox directly to your computer through a crossover cable your xbox will not have an IP address so most FTP programs will not be able to connect to it. Just hook up your xbox to a hub with a normal ethernet cord that your computer is hooked up to. Then find out your xbox's IP and then you should be able to FTP to that address.

I'll make that a bit more simple...
your xbox needs an ip address so your pc can see it.
if you are sharing an internet connection in windows, through your ethernet port, then windows will assign the xbox an ip address.
if you arn't connecting through your pc's shared internet connection, then, plug it into your router.
wait a minute or so, and the xbox will get an ip address ,depending on softmodding or hard modding, you can then find out the ip of the xbox, plug it into a PC, (after getting an ip on the xbox)
then shazam, the FTP program you are using should be able to see it. :)

Ive spent the last 2 hours or more reading posts in this thread, and I really feel a little bit more.. dumb.. Maybe a few of you, or more could benefit from this.
1) GRAMMAR, please for humanity, learn words and their spellings, and the correct way to type.. no "LOLZ" and "me 2" BS please..
2) READ, and learn to navigate web pages. Ive seen the same question asked and answered at least twice on each page...
3) GOOGLE IT is more than a phrase. DO IT.
4) Learn from your own mistakes and failings. Its only a computer, and its only going to do what you tell it to do. Don't expect M$ magic plug n pray to get you through this one.
So please. If you have a simple question, like what is FTP, research a little bit on your own before you take twice the time to post it on here.. google, and READ READ READ.
I found plenty of very good articles and tutorials when I needed it, but I also sit there and implement every idea I can throw at it for hours until I do get it right.
And if you do have a legitimate question that HASN'T been answered, take some time and explain your self, instead of a 4 word sentence in caps lock..
