Mode 1 = slower hdd access
Mode 2 = enable DVD9 flattened to DVD5 support
Mode 3 = flush hdloader from ps2 memory upon loading game

Ah gotcha. This is a DVD-5 or single layer game so it shouldn't need rebuilt. Most likely your not setting the mode to ISO in DVD Decrypter. Here's a guide for DVD Decrypter: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html Burn at 1x, 2x, then 4x, until it works. Use quality DVD-R's, no Memorex or Imitation.

Thats what i thought to so i redid it iso/read then hit decrypt then it gets to 73% and quits and tells me wrong method. Alcohol 120 fails to. i tried it with iso buter and got and error but it finished it up though. would that be enough to put it on the ps2 hdd

Yeah there's really not a lot that can go wrong when running DVD Decrypter. I doubt you are using it incorrectly. Just to be postive your copying your original to your hard drive, right? Or are you trying to burn an iso file you downloaded to disc? I only ask because I can't see how else you would get a wrong mode error in DVD decrypter. Is your copy scratched or dirty? What happen's when you try to rip other PS2 game's to your hard drive? Sorry for the littany of questions but each one helps eliminate a potential cause of the problem.

Yeah the only thing I can think of is it's scratched. God of War is a DVD 9 or Dual Layer game, so it needs rebuilt to play on a single DVD-R. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/174869 As far as TOCA 2, I know other people have backed it up successfully. I only recall encoutering one thread where a guy had issues. The only thing I can think of is upgrading your burner to the latest firmware. This will usually be posted on the manufacturer's site. Post the make and model of your DVD burner if you have trouble finding it.

i found the firmware for my burner and i am going to try it tonite and see if it works now. On the site though it says that if my burner is working now then there is no need to get new firmware only if it tells me to. Does this mean i should still do it?

Yeah that's typically correct. You'll want to make a backup of your current firmware first. A bad flash can ruin your burner. This isn't really necessary, I just couldn't think of anything else at the time. If you have ANY doubts at all about upgrading your firmware, don't do it. What read speed are you setting your burner at when you make the iso?. In Nero, is "copy on the fly" checked? If so, uncheck it.
