copy protection error, I/O device error

I start DVD Shrink and press "Backup!" to a folder on my hard drive and at 0% encoding I get the following message:

"DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Copy protection error
the request sould not be performed because of an I/O device error"

I am using winXP home version and a Plextor 712A DVD read/writer and this error occurs no matter what DVD I try to copy.

I know I'm doing something very basically wrong but I could find no other threads with this problem.

Shrink is a little behind the times when it comes to new copy protections. Rip with DVD Decrypter first, then compress with Shrink.

or fab decrypter i got that error few times i then used the fab and then opened it with shrink and it work.
