Sorry if this question has been asked before but I cannot find the answer. I have been using Sony dvd - r however have been told to only use Ritek. Now if I take these Sony dvd -r and copy them to a ritek dvd -r will that be acceptable or will I lose data?

This is probably a stupid question when you think about it and I am thinking that the difference is only in the dye.

sony dvd-rs are fine. If they've been working good for you then stick with them. I don't know who told you to "only use ritek" but, they're wrong. There's quite a few brands that work well on systems.

Thanks for the reply. I have had so many consoles over the years--actually I have never had one to break until I bought a refurbished ps2 last year. This was when the new pstwo was coming out but you couldnt obtain either so I went with a refurbed. Never again. The laser was wore out--apparently someone had used a disc to clean the laser which damaged the crap out of it.

Anyway the guy who fixed it, said he would only recommend Ritek. I am confused as to whether making copies from cheap media (which I apparently dont have) would make a difference. I know analog it would however dvd's are digital so I have no idea.

Thanks again for the reply. I may very well stick with the Sony dvd -r.

There should be no problem copying from $ony to Ritek as long as the data on the $ony disc it copied correctly in the first place. Personally I use Ritek cause they are reputable and they are much cheaper than $ony.
