Any one uses Satelite PVRs???

Does any one uses Satelite PVR's to record from receivers. Is there a way to interface to the hard drive inside the pvr and extract the contents to the PC's hard drive. And also what file formats are stored in the PVR's Harddrive, i.e. VOB, mpg (mpeg-2 or mpeg-1), or others
