What's the best mod chip that I could just solder on it's wires and it wont require me to upload or download anything to use it to play backed up dvd+r games for whatever version of the ps2?

All the good one's need you to download a flash.
You also download them to update the chip with new features

But the best are DMS4 Pro, DMS4 Lite, Matrix Infinity

After you download and install the flash for the chip then
it will pretty much play anything you want.
One that you do not download any flash for would not be
a chip that can be upgraded, you can go that way if you like
but it is surely not the best way to go.

Hey Glitched, I didn't see DVD+R discs listed as a supported Media type for the matrix infinity. Does that mean that it wont run or play backed up ps2 game on a DVD+R disc?

here is a start
I do not see anywhere where it says it will not play DVD+R
and i am almost 100% sure it will.
Flashing the chip should be very easy. Just download the flash
burn it to a CD as instructed (i am sure there is a tutorial on it)
then play the CD in your PS2

Yeah I recommend getting the Matrix also (I have had one for about a year). Although the chip will play your DVD+R backups your PS2 may not. What version PS2 do you have (http://www.mod-chip.com/ps2version.htm)?

steimy I only told Glitched that about the matrix infinity because he suggested this link http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/244546 as a place to get my answers about whether or not the matrix infinity could run and play ps2 games on a DVD+R and at this link it was not listed as being able to support it... BUt if your 100%, then okay, and even since Glitched has now said it does and he knows first hand then now I feel safe.

i can't be 100%, i do not have one.
I have a DMS4 Pro, about that chip I AM 100%
it will play any media type. Even dual layer back ups

But any good chip should play both -R and +R
and Matrix Infinity and DMS4 Pro are the 2 best out there
so i just assume that it would.
