They're both good burners in their own way. I know for a fact that the DRU 720A can book type DVD+R to DVD-ROM easily when burning with Nero Burning Rom or Nero Express. In addition, the Lite-On book type utility will support the 720A as well. I've been seeing talks at the CDFREAKS forum and searched on the net saying that the Lite-On book type utililty does support the drive.

In contrast, if both are in good condition and it's not broken yet, keep both of them because you'll never know when you're going to need the other one.

Ive always been a fan of pioneer, Got my first pioneer when they were about $400! and have never had a problem, Only thing i dislike about my 108 is i don't think it will booktype.

Dcrazys theres lots of great burners on the market ,Plextor,NEC,Pioneer,BenQ are the top notch BUT actually the most important thing is using GOOD blank media to burn with which would be Taiyo Yuden,Verbatim or Ritek (ridata) THAT makes a HUGE difference in the end product
