Forgive my newbieness, but I have been working on this for some time now. I am trying to back up a few episodes of a tv show to a DVD-R. I have them in multiple VIDEO_TS folders, and renamed them so that they would go in some kind of numerated order. Then, I burnt them onto the blank DVD-R. However, when I played the DVD-R, only the first episode played. What can I do so that all the episodes will play?

Again, sorry if I sound like a total newb, 'cause I am. But I want to finish this so badly...Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(I'm using a MAC OSX for this, by the way).

(p.s. I've already posted this in another forum, but what can I say? I'm impatient.)

I've hosted an image to show you guys what the inside of the dvd looks like. This is one of the many dvd-r's that I've used up for this project. Originally, all the episodes had their own VIDEO_TS folders, and were all titled VTS_01_1.VOB. I changed the titles as you can see, so I could create an order, but maybe I shouldn't have done so. Or maybe they should all have their VIDEO_TS folders back... or maybe there are some missing files... I don't know. All I know is, I'm going nuts trying to figure this one out! Please, does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Here's the link:

Thanks all.

Your problem is that you placed all the episodes in the compiled dvd for the first episode, that's why only plays the first one, because you compiled a dvd for each episode with its own VIDEO_TS folder, and were all titled VTS_01_1.VOB. (therefore chanching the VOB name will make no difference)

The solution is to reauthor all the dvd, which means to compile a new dvd with all the episodes, into one VIDEO_TS folder, don't worry, just use all the VOB files you made (regardless if you changed the name) and compile them into making and compiling a new dvd.

To put it in simple words... if you make a dvd for Episode 1, one for Episode 2, one for Episode 3, etc. you made 3 separate dvd, and if you take the VOB file for Episode 2 and 3, changed the VOB name and put them in Episode 1 dvd folder, they will not work... what you need to do, is make one dvd for all 3 Episodes, that way the dvd will work and play all.

So you're saying that I need to create multiple DVDs to play the episodes? Or am I not understanding completely? If this is the case, is there an easy way to compile all the VOB's on one disk? Can you show me step-by-step, if it's not too much trouble?

Thanks so much.

What you need to do is make 1 dvd with all the episodes, not one for each one.

Which program do you use for make your dvds? I recommend you DVD Lab Pro, where you can use your current VOB files, and create 1 new dvd with all the episodes. (the program includes a guide to assist you in making the dvd)

I would use a Windows XP program, but for some reason, neither of my dvd drives sense the blank dvd-r's...Is there a MAC program that does the same thing? Or do you know a solution to my DVD drive problem that will enable me to use DVD Lab Pro?

Sorry to bug you with so many problems. Thanks so much for your help!
